Imagine that you have a young child and no family support. Then a relationship turns abusive or you lose your job and end up homeless. It happens all of the time and that’s why we created INNterim. The only program of its kind in Baltimore County, INNterim provides homeless mothers and their children with more than a safe place to call home. Because of INNterim, these mothers are given the opportunity to connect with resources necessary for independence, acquire the life skills needed to stay self-sufficient, become employed at a living wage, and move to permanent housing.
In 2009, 95% of residents completing the program obtained permanent housing and 75% were employed in jobs that paid at least $10/hour.
At INNterim, GEDs are earned. Credit is established. Interpersonal skills are mastered. Children thrive. New careers begin. The cycle of violence is broken. And confidence returns. Independence starts at INNterim.
INNterim creates a supportive and structured residential environment in which homeless mothers can acquire the skills and resources needed to rebuild their lives and become economically independent. Since 1994, we have aided more than 200 families in achieving self-sufficiency.
